Our Work in Armenia

Since 1992, generous American Catholics have provided hundreds of thousands of dollars for projects which were submitted to our office by the bishops of Armenia. These efforts have helped the Church in Armenia rebuild itself and begin to live and serve in freedom. The following are just a few examples of past, ongoing, and new projects sponsored through our office.

With your help, we have …

… Helped establish a Catholic publishing house
The religious literature published by the Mekhitarian Center of Armenia is distributed free of charge and helps the Armenian Church fulfill its mission to teach and evangelize. We provided computers and other essential equipment.

… Participated in the foundation of a catechetical and pastoral institute
Restoring Catholic education where it was repressed for decades is a dire need in Armenia. This restoration was furthered by our purchase of furniture, educational material, and computers for the institute in Yerevan.

… Funded rebuilding of Catholic pre-school and high school in Gumayry
Catholic education in Armenia also benefited from this project to make these schools fit for use.

… and we continue to …

Finance activities and furnishing of ecumenical center of continuing education
We provided funds for lodging, food, transportation, heating, and teachers for youth conferences and also helped to furnish necessary kitchen and classroom items for the center. Request submitted: $100,000

…Support the Digital Armenian Catholic Library Project
It is only now that some of the classic texts of Western spirituality are being translated into Armenian. The goal of the online library project is to make these texts available to a wide audience both in Armenia and abroad. Amount requested: $50,000.
