Our Work in Azerbaijan

Since 2000, generous American Catholics have provided tens of thousands of dollars for projects which were submitted to our office by the bishops of Azerbaijan. These efforts have helped the Church in Azerbaijan rebuild itself and begin to live and serve in freedom. The following are just a few examples of past, ongoing, and new projects sponsored through our office.

With your help, we have …

… Supported the re-establishment of a Catholic mission in Azerbaijan
After Stalin destroyed the Catholic community in the purges of the 1930s, there was no visible Catholic presence in Azerbaijan. We helped restore a special mission including funds for renovating a chapel, constructing a Way of the Cross, visas for missionaries, electricity, gas, water, and other necessary expenses.

… Support the activity and development of the mission in Baku
This mission still needs our support to maintain and expand its care and service to the Azerbaijani community. Request submitted: $50,000
