Since 1990, generous American Catholics have provided millions of dollars for projects which were submitted to our office by the bishops of Hungary. These efforts have helped the Church in Hungary rebuild itself and begin to live and serve in freedom. Published by Hungarian Jesuits since 1915, this magazine features articles about Catholic life, spirituality, prayer, education, social problems, and Catholic international news. It also supports youth camps (eight in 2001) that do much to form the next generation. Request submitted: $6,000
… Helped purchase and renovation of a nursing home and convent in Adony
We helped the sisters of Nirmala Dasikal purchase a nursing home that belonged to the village of Adony. They work for the spiritual and physical needs of the elderly. This project included the installation of a kitchen, laundry room, and space for bedrooms and a dining room for the Sisters who work there.

… Support production of religious television programming for Veszprem Archdiocese
We provide support for the production and broadcast of religious and evangelical programming for television in the area. They will focus on current events, Church teaching, and social concerns in the Archdiocese of Veszprem. Request submitted: $18,000

This project would reconstruct the Piarist Grammar School that was confiscated in 1953 by Communist Government. It needs extensive reconstruction, including roof, heating system, electricity, pipelines, and window. Request submitted: $25,000

… Help with the renovation of the Franciscan Cultural Center in Szeged
Under Communism, the government used the center for Hungarian State Railways. Since 1999 when the Franciscans received the center back they have been producing high-quality cultural programs. But it requires extensive electric and structural work. Request submitted: $30,000
… Renovation of space in building loft for use as classrooms
The 1933 building was built for eight grammar school classes—now there are 24 and 750 students. This extra classroom space, and the necessary heating and plumbing work, will greatly help remedy the lack of space. Request submitted: $124,505
…Support the construction of St. Nicholas Church in Kecskemet
This church was built in the second half of 14th century. Along with the faith of Hungarian Catholics, it persevered through the turbulent centuries. Today the population of Kecskemet is about 110,000. Amount requested: $73,000.
