Out of Darkness

Out Of Darkness tells the dramatic story of peoples who persevered in devotion and steadfast faith through decades of communist oppression in central and eastern Europe. Under communism, the centuries-old faith of the Church was tested by fire. Stirring stories of resistance and martyrdom within the "silent Church" echo throughout all the countries of this region.

As the East European Church emerges from darkness, Catholics of the United States are challenged to help people of faith thrive in the new light of freedom, to remember our common heritage, and to help our eastern European brothers and sisters rediscover the fullness of God's love.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has established a program to collect funds, channel resources, and encourage the involvement of Catholics in North America. These efforts are outlined in this compelling presentation.
