Catholic Bishops' Ads on Partial-birth Abortion Focus on Absurdity of
Contemporary Abortion Debate

WASHINGTON (May 9, 1997) — The National Conference of Catholic Bishops is sponsoring a national print ad on Partial Birth Abortion that draws attention to the absurdity of the fact that a debate continues over whether to allow this brutal and unnecessary abortion method to continue.

The U.S. Senate is expected to debate and vote on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban early next week. The Bishops' full page ad will run in the May 9, 1997 national weekend edition of USA TODAY.

A copy of the ad is available upon request.
