Linda Hunt Appointed Director of Human Resources

WASHINGTON (October 19, 1998) -- Linda D. Hunt has been appointed Director of Human Resources of the U.S. Catholic Conference, succeeding Thomas J. Meehan who served as Director for 11 years prior to his death October 4.

Msgr. Dennis M. Schnurr, USCC General Secretary made the announcement.

Ms. Hunt was named Associate Director of Human Resources in April 1996. Before joining the USCC, she served in several capacities with Greater Southeast Healthcare System in Washington, DC, ending her 12-year tenure as Director of Employee Relations and Benefit Services. She has also worked as an equal employment opportunity specialist for the National Science Foundation. She has a master's degree in business from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

"Linda Hunt is a dedicated human resources professional," said Msgr. Schnurr in announcing her appointment. "We were very fortunate to have her join the Conference, and her experience with health benefits and personnel management have been an asset to the Conference for the past two years. I have the highest confidence that Linda will deftly handle the challenges which come with administering the human resource needs of an organization of 350 employees in three cities."

In addition to overseeing the daily personnel needs of the USCC, Ms. Hunt will also actively monitor changes in employee benefit plans, staff the Bishops' Personnel Committee, and serve as liaison to the USCC Employee Advisory Board.

Ms. Hunt is a member of the Washington Human Resource Forum, the American Management Association, the National Association of Church Personnel Administrators, and the Society for Human Resources Management. She serves on the Personnel Committee for Catholic Charities USA, and since 1996, has been a commissioner on the Prince George's County, Maryland, Human Relations Commission.
