Cardinal Keeler Deplores Shooting at Jewish Community Center

WASHINGTON (August 10, 1999)-- Cardinal William H. Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore and moderator for Catholic-Jewish Relations for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued the following statement regarding the attack on the Jewish day care center in Los Angeles:

"The tragic action at the day care center in Los Angeles calls for our prayers for the victims and their families. May the Lord grant speedy healing of body and spirit to all touched by this terrible event. At the same time may we all be instruments of a divinely inspired peace, working to banish from this land any sentiments of hatred for mistrust based on differences of faith, color or ethnic origin."
