Lebanese Patriarch to Take Questions on Middle East

WASHINGTON (March 1, 2001) -- As events in the Middle East continue to unfold, Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir of Lebanon will be available to the media on Tuesday, March 6, to offer his perspective on the current situation in Lebanon and its importance to the prospects for peace in the Middle East.

Patriarch Sfeir, 80, was born in Lebanon and today resides at the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerké, Lebanon. He was elected Patriarch of Antioch for Maronite Catholics in 1986, and was elevated to the College of Cardinals in 1994.
