Media Advisory Reminder: News Conference Friday, January 24: Catholic Bishops Call For Reform of Immigration Laws

WASHINGTON (January 23, 2003) -- At a news conference on Friday, January 24, the Catholic bishops of the United States and Mexico will formally release an unprecedented joint statement in which they call for reform of the two nations' immigration laws to reflect the reality of a globalized labor market.

WHAT: Release of Strangers No Longer, a joint statement of the Catholic bishops of the United States and Mexico calling for: a summit on immigration issues between the presidents of the two nations; immigration laws that recognize the reality of a globalized labor market; a reexamination of blockade strategies for border control; and a more welcoming society in general.
