Media Advisory Pope's Special Envoy Meets with President

WASHINGTON (March 5, 2003) -- Cardinal Pio Laghi, Pope John Paul II's personal envoy to President Bush on the current situation with Iraq, will be available to meet with the media shortly after his meeting with the President, at around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. This will take place at the First Amendment Room of the National Press Club, 529 Fourteenth St., NW, Washington DC.

Cardinal Laghi will also be available to the media after celebrating the 5:15 Ash Wednesday Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue NE, Washington.

Cardinal Laghi was the Vatican's permanent representative to the United States from 1980 to 1990.
