Media Advisory: U.S. Catholic Bishops' Charter Implementation Report

WASHINGTON (December 29, 2003) -- The "Report on the Implementation of the `Charter for the Protection of Children and your People'" will be released at 10 AM January 6, 2004 at a press conference at the National Press Club, Washington, DC.

The Office of Child and Youth Protection of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is issuing this Report based on an audit of U.S. dioceses and eparchies (dioceses of the Eastern Catholic Churches) to assess their compliance with the "Charter." The compliance audit was performed by the Gavin Group, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts.

The featured presenters will be:

Bishop Wilton D. Gregory, President of the USCCB
Kathleen McChesney, Ph.D, Executive Director of the USCCB's Office of Child and Youth Protection
William Gavin, President, Gavin Group
William R. Burleigh, National Review Board
Ray H. Siegfried II, National Review Board

The audit report will be available online on January 6 at 10 AM ET at www.usccb.org.
