A Book by USCCB Diaconate Official Wins a Catholic Press Association Award

WASHINGTON, DC (June 13, 2005) -- 101 Questions & Answers on Deacons by Deacon William T. Ditewig, Ph.D., won third place in the Professional Books category of awards given at the at the recent convention of the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada.

Deacon Ditewig is Executive Director of the Secretariat for the Diaconate, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The book was published by Paulist Press, Mahwah, N.J.

"101 real questions are answered clearly and informatively," said the award citation. "This volume clarifies the nature of the vocation to the diaconate, the preparation, his family involvement, the work of the deacon and his spiritual growth. This is an important reference for religious education as well as for men considering the vocation. Deacons are critical for the parish life and the pastoral ministry of the Church in America. This book underscores that importance and facilitates knowledge in an accessible format."
