Resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Brucato of New York Accepted

WASHINGTON (October 31, 2006)—Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Robert A. Brucato of New York.

Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, made the announcement.

Robert A. Brucato was born in New York, August 14, 1931. He studied at St. Joseph College, Our Lady of the Lake, and St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers and was ordained a priest of the New York archdiocese on June 1, 1957.

Bishop Brucato was appointed Titular Bishop of Temuniana and Auxiliary Bishop of New York, August 25, 1997.
