Pope Accepts Resignation of Galveston-Houston Auxiliary Bishop

WASHINGTON (November 6, 2006)—Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Most Reverend Vincent M. Rizzotto, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, made the announcement.

Vincent M. Rizzotto was born in Houston, TX, September 9, 1931. He studied at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and at St. Mary's Seminary, Houston, and was ordained a priest of Galveston-Houston, May 26, 1956.

Bishop Rizzotto was appointed Titular Bishop of Lamasba and Auxiliary Bishop of Galveston-Houston, June 22, 2001. He was ordained July 31, 2001.
