Religious Leaders Discuss Broadcasting and Religion

WASHINGTON (January 4, 2007)---The Forum on Religion and Broadcasting, conducted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in cooperation with the National Council of Churches and the United Church of Christ, will include as active participants those guests from the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths who were invited by the USCCB. Those speakers will discuss how broadcasting reflects their religious communities. Also invited by the USCCB are Federal Communications Commission Commissioners.

Others who may wish to attend as (non-speaking) audience members must RSVP Mr. William Ryan, USCCB Interim Secretary of Communications, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, or his assistant, Ms. Alverta Newton, via fax at 202/541-3173 or by email at bryan@usccb.org or anewton@usccb.org.

The forum will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 450 West 33rd Street, New York, 10001, in the Thirteen/WNET studio.

Any members of the press who wish to cover the forum must fax a request for attendance to Mr. Ryan at 202/541-3173.
