WASHINGTON (May 31, 2007)--Archbishop John P. Foley, President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, presented the Catholic Communication Campaign's 2007 Proclaim Awards to eleven dioceses and archdioceses, marking the 26th anniversary of the awards.
The awards were presented May 25, at the annual Catholic Media Convention.
The annual competition recognizes efforts of dioceses who participate in the annual Catholic Communication Campaign collection, usually taken up on the third Sunday of May.
Ramon E. Rodriguez, CCC Director of Development, praised the diverse programming.
"You are there for the person who is up at night not knowing where to turn to and sees a program at 3 a.m. or turns to the TV Mass when sick, or hears a radio spot and calls a priest to seek help."
The Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey, earned three awards for their Spanish Language Program AHTV: Apostolado Hispano Television Especial de Navidad, Realfaith TV: Companioning a Pregnant Teen and for their 2006 Promotional Campaign for Realfaith TV. The Archdiocese of Miami followed with two awards for their Portraits of Faith TV program and a special public service announcement to promote the CCC collection. The Diocese of Toledo, Ohio, received three Certificates of Merit in the TV Paid Advertisements, Newspaper and Internet categories.
Entries were reviewed by a jury in Washington in April. The Proclaim Award was established in 1981. A complete list of Proclaim Award and Certificate of Merit winners follows:
