Bride-To-Be Blogs On Bishops' Marriage

WASHINGTON—Momentous and minute moments mark the road to marriage, according to a blog on the U.S. Bishops’ www.ForYourMarriage.org site. The latest addition to the popular site that includes marriage tips and other helps for those married and planning to marry is "Sarah’s Blog." It recounts musings of 22-year-old Sarah as she prepares to marry Daniel, also 22, next May.

In one entry, as Sarah begins to realize that Daniel was The One, she recalls his odd but serious first compliment, that she had "cute toes."

The Web site is sponsored by the U.S. Catholic Bishops and promotes healthy marriages for people of all faiths. It offers practical resources for engaged and married couples and couples in serious relationships.

ForYourMarriage.org celebrates its one-year anniversary with several other new features too.

Sarah’s Blog debuted in August. Visitors are invited to share their own experiences of wedding planning and offer advice to the bride-to-be.

The Website also hosts a new series called "Marriage Rx." Each monthly article discusses the symptoms of a common but perplexing problem and offers a prescription to keep the marriage healthy. The first two articles deal with balancing home and work and the role of faith in marriage.

The site’s most popular feature, Daily Marriage Tips, continues with simple suggestions to cultivate a healthy marriage. Recent content updates include the pros and cons of internet dating and a review of major dating Web sites, including Catholic sites.

Visitors can also take fun and instructive quizzes, read about "must-have" conversations before getting married, learn how to improve communication in their relationship, and much more. Television public service messages on the theme "What have you done for your marriage today?" can be viewed on the site.

The ForYourMarriage.org Web site and TV and radio spots are part of the Bishops’ multi-year National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage. They are funded by the Catholic Communication Campaign, a nationwide collection to support church media efforts.
