WASHINGTON—Credential applications for media who wish to cover the spring meeting of the U.S. bishops, June 17-19, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Antonio are now being accepted.
An application form is attached and may also be found at http://www.usccb.org/mr/credential_form_June_09.pdf.
Items on the agenda include approval of the annual assessment of dioceses for United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), progress report on the pastoral plan for marriage, approval of the Mass of Thanksgiving for the Gift of Human Life, and liturgical translations. Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, Arizona, vice president of the USCCB, also will report on the USCCB's five priorities: Cultural Diversity in the Church, Faith Formation and Sacramental Practice, Life and Dignity of the Human Person, Strengthening Marriage and Promotion of Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life.
Sessions expected to be open to the media will be Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. The meeting also will include a concelebrated Mass at the historic San Fernando Cathedral. The rest of the meeting includes executive session, regional meetings and time for prayer and reflection.
