Schedule For March 1-3 U.S. Bishops’ Advisory Group Visit To Haiti

WHAT: Trip schedule. Advisory Group for Haiti, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America.

WHEN: March 1-3

WHERE: Port-au-Price, Haiti. Visits to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) and the center for religious formation (CIFOR) where numerous seminarians and others perished, the Saint François de Sales Hospital and the massive Petionville Club Camp, formerly a golf course and now an encampment for thousands of homeless Haitians.

WHY: The delegation will assess the impact of the earthquake on the local Church and identify ways in which the subcommittee can assist.

WHO: Archbishop José H. Gomez of San Antonio will lead the delegation. He will be accompanied by Cardinal Seán O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Boston and Haitian-born Bishop Guy Sansaricq, Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn, New York. Father Andrew Small, director of the Collection for the Church in Latin America will travel with the delegation.
