Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference

Ghana/West Africa
September 14, 2001

We have heard and seen the tragedy that has befallen the American people and so many others whom America played host to. There has been such a tragic and sad loss of lives and property.

We wish, on behalf of the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference and the Catholic population of Ghana, to console with you: the people of God in the United States and to pledge to all the sorrowing and grieving a lot the support of our prayers.

May God strengthen your Government and people in these difficult moments.

May He console all the sorrowing and direct the healing and the restoration of your land and her people.

+Peter Appiah Turkson
Archbishop of Cape Coast and
President, Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference
