Kenya Episcopal Conference
Nairobi, Kenya
September 12, 2001
On behalf of the Kenya Episcopal Conference and all the Catholic faithful in Kenya, we express our deepest sympathy, sorrow and share in grief with you, the American Conference and the people of the USA during this tragic moment. We condemn with strongest possible terms this cowardly attack upon thousands of innocent civilians. We do remember the American Bishops to Kenya with fond memories.
We have learnt with shock of the horrific inhuman terrorist attack on Tuesday, September 11, which plunged the people of America into unimaginable pain, leaving thousands of innocent people dead and others injured. We offer our prayers for the injured and for all those affected in one way or the other. We remain close to you in prayer and for those who lost their lives may they rest in peace.
Terrorism knows no race, colour or religion and has never been a solution to differences of all kinds. It is our humble prayer that genuine ways will be found to promote activities that will enable peaceful co-existence of all peoples across the world and will save humanity from untold suffering as we have witnessed in the USA.
As the rescue mission and caring of the survivors continue, we guarantee you our prayers and assurance that "the Lord will not abandon you to the powers of the enemy."
God bless you.
