I write to you in your capacity as the President of the United States Conference of Bishops.

The faithful of the Archdiocese of Nassau join me in expressing shock and horror at the acts of aggression against the people of the United States of America and all freedom loving peoples. Please extend to the Roman Catholic community of the United States, and indeed to all your citizens, our sincere condolence and prayerful support.

Our hearts reach out to all who have suffered the loss of life or the pain of separation from loved ones. We stand in solidarity with you and pray that the Holy Spirit will guide the leadership of your country to respond to this terrible massacre in a way which will bring about true justice and peace.

May our loving God guide and console your nation.
