This Youth and Young Adult Jubilee Guidebook is a means to assist young people to prepare for and celebrate the Holy Year 2000. It is a tool that contains many resources that can be adapted for diverse communities and populations. There seems to be no end to the creative ideas and suggestions that could be included in such a guidebook. However an attempt has been made to collect applicable resources and publish them in a manner usable for young people and those who minister to them.

The heart of the Guidebook contains twelve group sessions (six for youth and six for young adults) of prayer, reflection, faith sharing, action and celebration. These sessions focus on the diverse gifts we bring as the people of God. These sessions were taken from the Encuentro 2000 manual, Many Faces in God's House, written by the Bishop's Committee on Hispanic Affairs (see the explanation of Encuentro 2000 that follows) and were modified for use with the named populations. The guide suggests that these sessions begin in Advent ‘99 and continue through the Jubilee year 2000. The modified sessions retain the emphasis from Encuentro 2000 that our vision of the Catholic faith community can be widened and the group sessions engage us in a world view of our Faith.

Appendix A contains resources regarding the Jubilee Year 2000. Appendix B focuses on World Youth Day 2000.
