  • Caged -- Harrowing tale of an innocent young woman (Eleanor Parker) wrongly sent to prison where she suffers many woes, especially at the hands of a corrupt matron (Hope Emerson), then becomes embittered and emerges a hardened criminal a few years later. Directed by John Cromwell, the brutalizing conditions of prison life are convincingly enacted by a good cast and the result supplies an emotional perspective to the issue of prison reform. Stylized violence and justice questions. (A-II) (br) 1950
