Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within -- Jumbled animated sci-fi thriller set in 2065 in which a scientist (voiced by Ming-Na) races to discover the missing links to an antidote that will destroy invading aliens before they take over Earth. The computer-generated characters with life-like skin and body movements in director Hironobu Sakaguchi's film are amazing, but the convoluted plot line is nearly impenetrable. Much sci-fi action violence with an instance of crass language. (A-III) -- adults. (PG-13) -- parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. 2001 (Columbia)
