  • First Men in the Moon -- H.G. Wells' tale of an eccentric English inventor (Lionel Jeffries) who uses his discovery of anti-gravity to take a couple (Edward Judd and Martha Hyer) on a trip to the moon in 1899. Directed by Nathan Juran, the preliminaries are mildly amusing but matters turn serious after the trio find an advanced civilization of human-sized insects living in tunnels beneath the lunar surface. Some scary special effects by Ray Harryhausen. (A-I) (br) ( 1964 )
