  • Joan of Paris -- Routine World War II morale stiffiner in which a RAF bomber crew downed in France flee Nazi pursuers (Laird Cregar and Alexander Granach) while helped by a priest (Thomas Mitchell), an underground agent (May Robson) and a waitress (Michele Morgan) who falls for the crew's Free French captain (Paul Henreid). Directed by Robert Stevenson, the grim situation yields some suspenseful moments, but the doomed romance and pious references to Joan of Arc only underline the anti-Nazi theme. Wartime violence and justice questions. A-II (br) ( 1942 )
