  • Journey into Fear -- trange suspense thriller in which an American munitions expert (Joseph Cotten) becomes a bewildered pawn in a deadly game of international espionage aboard a Black Sea freighter carrying an odd assortment of passengers (including Delores Del Rio, Agnes Moorehead and Jack Moss), one of whom is a Nazi agent. Adapted from Eric Ambler's exotic tale of foreign intrigue, it was largely directed by Orson Welles (who also plays a cunning Turkish intelligence officer) though finished by the studio and credited to Norman Foster. Sinister atmosphere and stylized violence. A-II (br) ( 1942 )
