  • Ladies' Man, The -- Uneven farce with Jerry Lewis playing a klutzy handyman in a mansion which its owner (opera singer Helen Traubel) has turned into a women's school for aspiring performers. Also directed and co-written by Lewis, the self-indulgent exercise juggles an erratic mix of sightgags, pratfalls, spoofs and double-takes, but Lewis' tiresome mugging gets fewer laughs than Kathleen Freeman's cheerful performance as the mansion's dizzy maid. For Lewis fans. (A-I) (br) ( 1961 )
