  • Les Girls -- Uneven musical comedy about a 1930's European tour of a cabaret dance troupe (Mitzi Gaynor, Kay Kendall and Taina Elg) headed by an American hoofer (Gene Kelly) as told in flashbacks during an English libel trial over the publication of Kendall's memoirs. Director George Cukor gets some bright moments from the Cole Porter songs and talented cast but not enough to sustain an overlong narrative and some lame comedy routines. Romantic complications and considerable sexual innuendo. (A-III) (br) ( 1957 )
