  • Love Story -- Supersuds screen version of Erich Segal's romantic melodrama about a rich youth (Ryan O'Neal) and rough-talking baker's daughter (Ali MacGraw) whose Harvard-Radcliffe courtship and marriage survive their social and cultural differences until her early death from some sort of dread ailment. Director Arthur Hiller manipulates viewer emotions skillfully and shamelessly in a sentimental, old-fashioned tear-jerker, updated with some rude language. (A-III) (GP) ( 1970 )
