  • One Touch of Venus -- Pedestrian romantic fantasy in which a statue of Venus comes to life (Ava Gardner) when kissed by a department store clerk (Robert Walker) whose attempts to escape her romantic powers engender love between fellow clerks (Dick Haymes and Olga San Juan) and the store's owner (Tom Conway) and his secretary (Eve Arden). Directed by William A. Seiter, the silly premise is helped by some comic dialogue and occasional Kurt Weill songs, but the result is decidedly earth-bound. Sexual situations amidst all the romantic complications. (A-III) (br) ( 1948 )
