  • Spellbound -- Stylish psychological thriller about a psychiatrist (Ingrid Bergman) who falls for an amnesiac (Gregory Peck) accused of murder but whom she's sure can be cleared once she's helped him recover his memory. Director Alfred Hitchcock uses some of Salvador Dali's surrealistic imagery to indicate Bergman's probes of Peck's subconscious but the tightly wound plot takes much too long in its unraveling. A few chills and much unsettling tension. (A-II) (br) ( 1945 )
