September 7th TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
For every child conceived this week in our parish:
that through our prayers and our actions,
that tiny and vulnerable person might be nourished in safety and love;
We pray to the Lord:
September 14th EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS
For all who suffer,
and especially children who are physically or emotionally abused:
that God might grant us the wisdom and the determination
to protect and nurture them;
We pray to the Lord:
September 21st TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
For doctors who struggle to do the right thing,
and for their patients:
that the Gospel of Life might be their guide;
We pray to the Lord:
September 28th TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
For all who have grown very old:
that we might cherish their wisdom,
give thanks for their presence,
and remind them daily of how much we need them;
We pray to the Lord:
Holy Mary, Mother of God and our own Mother,
look upon all your children
and come to our aid.
Guide us to Christ, the Way, and the Truth, and the Life;
from the Father implore for us the gifts of the Spirit,
protection from every snare, and freedom from all evil.
Help us ever to bear witness
to the fruitfulness of love and the authentic meaning of life;
teach us to build with you the Kingdom of your Son
the Kingdom of justice, love and peace.

September 2003: Bulletin Briefs
The cause of life will rise and fall not because of scientific know-ledge or political strategies, the cause of life will be decided because of our courage and love — or by our lack of courage and love.
The antidote to abortion is love. Love in the form of adoption. The loving solution to abortion is adoption. We must celebrate adoption, honor adoption, facilitate adoption.
Our task is to build a civilization of love or there will be no civilization at all. It is really a quest for holiness. We will be able to do something about abortion when we all are holier — courage and love are the strength of holiness. One of the most painful things about our shortcomings and failings as individuals and as a community is that it prevents us from doing the lord's work the way He asks of us. This must be a great incentive to us to embrace the grace of conversion in our own lives, so that we might be better witnesses for the Gospel of Life...
It is the duty of every parent to instill within their children the fundamentals of the faith. God trusts us with the upbringing of these little ones only for a time; we should not fail to perform that duty to the fullest. It is what will transform our culture.
