APRIL 2ND -- FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
For young mothers everywhere,
and especially those who are tempted to despair,
that through the child they carry deep within,
they might know hope and joy;
We pray to the Lord:
APRIL 9TH -- FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
For all who have grown old and frail,
that we might treasure them as priceless gifts from God
who through their weakness teach us the meaning of life;
We pray to the Lord:
APRIL 16TH -- PALM SUNDAY
That the voices of the little children
who acclaimed the Lord in Jerusalem
may lead us to value the life of every child;
We pray to the Lord:
APRIL 23RD -- EASTER SUNDAY
That the resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead
may rouse the conscience of all who have died to the Gospel of life;
We pray to the Lord:
APRIL 30TH -- SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
That as the spring approaches,
we might cherish the gift of new birth
and defend the inalienable right of every life,
from conception to natural death;
We pray to the Lord:
Bulletin Briefs
We know that the disabled person–a unique and unrepeatable person in his equal and inviolable dignity –needs not only care, but first of all love which becomes recognition, respect and integration. ...
By your presence, dear brothers and sisters, you reaffirm that disability is not only a need, but also and above all, a stimulus and a plea. Of course, it is a request for help, but even before that, it is a challenge to individual and collective selfishness; it is an invitation to ever new forms of brotherhood. By your situation, you call into question those conceptions of life that are solely concerned with satisfaction, appearance, speed and efficiency.
Vocation is the word that ... reveals to man the truth about his existence. "An outstanding cause of human dignity ... lies in man's call to communion with God. From the very circumstances of origin, man is already invited to converse with God. For man would not exist were he not created by God's love and constantly preserved by it. And he cannot fully live according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and devotes himself to his Creator."
The promotion and defense of the human person's dignity and rights, today more urgent than ever, demands the courage of individuals who are enlivened by faith, capable of selfless love and deeply compassionate, respectful of the truth about man made in the image of God and destined to grow to the full stature of Christ Jesus (cf. Eph 4:13).
