September 1st TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
For every child yet unborn, that he or she may dwell in safety, nourished and protected by a loving mother's womb;
We pray to the Lord:
September 8th TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY
For every little child, that we might protect them from harm, love them with an unconditional care, and sustain them with a growing trust in the infinite love of God;
We pray to the Lord:
September 15th TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY
For the defense of all human life, from violence and terror, selfishness and sin;
We pray to the Lord:
September 22nd TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY
For all who have sinned against the Gospel of Life, and especially for those whose hearts are wracked with guilt; that the Lord might embrace them in his mercy and bring them true peace;
We pray to the Lord:
September 29th TWENTY- SIXTH SUNDAY
For those who have grown very old, that their weakness might lead us to God's strength,
their wisdom might help us to do God's will, and their age might help us recall the brevity of our lives;
We pray to the Lord:
In the moments of greater difficulty and suffering...
I have felt around me the intense prayer of the whole Church, and for this today I wish to express to all my cordial thanks. In effect, every day I have the experience that my ministry is supported by the unceasing prayer of the People of God: of so many persons unknown to me, but close to my heart, who offer to the Lord their prayers and sacrifices according to the intentions of the Holy Father. In the moments of greater difficulty and suffering, this spiritual force is a valid help and intimate comfort. I always need your prayer, dear faithful of Rome and of the whole world. In fact, without it, how could I respond to the word of the Lord, who commands Simon Peter, "Duc in altum", "Put out into the deep" (Lk 5:4)
September 2002: Bulletin Briefs
Suffering may reveal life's most profound meaning.
We believe in fostering a culture of life...We believe that a life is a creation, not a commodity, and that our children are gifts to be loved and protected, not products to be designed and manufactured by human cloning.
To advocate physician-assisted suicide is to deny that human suffering has value, and to affirm that the absence of things unpleasant is a necessary condition for a life worth living.
Man is true to himself only when he sees himself as coming from God, in an attitude of poverty. He is conscious of his dignity only when he acknowledges in himself and in others the mark of God who created him in his own image.
