On the Eucharist (Ecclesia de Eucharistia)

This encyclical is an ideal resource or gift for all Catholics especially those whose faith centers on the Eucharist including the laity, eucharistic ministers, students, the newly-ordained, deacons, and priests, deacons.

The Voice of the Church: A Forum on Liturgical Translation
Originally delivered at a forum on liturgical translation, these three papers offer liturgists, musicians, pastoral leaders, and scholars differing views on and identify significant issues for developing a process for liturgical translation. Gilbert Ostdiek addresses the nature of liturgical prayer from the experience of those who make up the worshiping assembly. Jeremy Driscoll highlights the translator's need to be conscious of and extremely sensitive to the larger context of the work, then applies it to the translation of the Roman Missal. Stanislaus Campbell focuses on six pastoral issues including prayer as narrative, metaphor, and inclusive language. This collection includes an introduction describing the project's genesis; opening remarks from the forum by Archbishop Jerome G. Hanus and Bishop Joseph A. Fiorenza; and a summary and synthesis by Dennis D. McManus. From the Ad Hoc Committee on the Forum on the Principles of Liturgical Translation.

Reflections on the Body, Cremation, and Catholic Funeral Rites
Certain pastoral challenges to the Catholic funeral tradition were already developing in the United States even as the revised Order of Christian Funerals was being prepared for publication.
