Instruction on the Eucharist (Redemptionis sacramentum)
On Certain Matters to Be Observed or to Be Avoided Regarding the Most Holy Eucharist
Liturgy Documentary Series 15

At the center of Christian life is the Holy Eucharist. Though governed by law and ritual books, the celebration of the Eucharist has varied from place to place—with many variations stepping outside the boundaries of the law. Instruction on the Eucharist addresses the deviations in and from liturgical norms and laws as they pertain to the celebration and adoration of the Eucharist. Pope John Paul II laid the groundwork in 2003 for this Instruction with his encyclical On the Eucharist (Ecclesia de Eucharistia). From the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in consultation with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Liturgy Documentary Series 2: General Instruction of the Roman Missal
This revision of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) seeks to promote more conscious, active, and full participation of the faithful in the mystery of the Eucharist. For bishops, priests, and deacons; liturgists, musicians, and artists; and liturgy committee members, students, and the faithful, this edition of the GIRM is part of the third edition of the Missale Romanum (Roman Missal) that was published in Latin in 2001. While the Missale Romanum contains the rite and prayers for Mass, the GIRM provides specific detail about each element of the Order of Mass as well as other information related to the Mass. Divided into nine chapters, the GIRM starts with an introduction giving the theological and spiritual context for the chapters that follow, focusing on the Eucharist's central place in the life of faith. The remaining chapters explain the duties and functions of the ministers and people of God, reflect on and give insights into the specific elements of the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist and how each is to be ritually performed; and highlight the roles of song, posture, and movement. The latter chapters focus on the celebration of Mass with various numbers and types of presiders, arrangement and furnishing of churches, requirements for the celebration of Mass, Masses for specific circumstances, and adaptations. From the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Liturgy Documentary Series, Volume 13: Norms for the Distribution and Reception of Communion Under Both Kinds in the Dioceses of the United States of America
The U.S. Catholic bishops outline the methods of distributing holy Communion to the faithful under both kinds. Having received the proper recognitio of the Apostolic See, this document clearly affirms that the restoration of the distribution of Holy Communion under both kinds does not represent a change in the Church's traditional beliefs concerning the Holy Eucharist. It seeks to acknowledge this custom, which has not been universally practiced since the Council of Trent was convened in 1545. Ideal for pastors, deacons, Eucharistic ministers, and liturgists.

The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments wishes to modify its original confirmation in regard to numbers 36 and 37 of the Norms for the Distribution and Reception of Holy Communion Under Both Kinds in the Dioceses of the United States of America. This modification resolves a conflict between the Instruction Redemptionis sacramentum, number 105, and the Norms. For a PDF version of the correction.
