Over five hundred Catholic leaders from around the country meet each year in Washington for the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering. An important part of the three day meeting is a visit to Senators and Representatives by the participants. They take messages of hope and challenge, reminding the Members of Congress that the Catholic Church cares deeply about the reduction of poverty and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
This year, participants focused on four key issues. Click on the link below to find out more about each of the issues:
- OVERALL MESSAGE TO CONGRESS
- Domestic Issues
- Budget (housing and community development block grants)
- Medicaid
- Budget (housing and community development block grants)
- International Issue Backgrounders
- Foreign Aid
- Holy Land
- Foreign Aid
- There are plenty of other issues that are of concern to the Catholic bishops and other national Catholic organizations. Click here to see what was sent in our recent electronic mailing.
