About the Environmental Justice Program

Past Grant Programs

Since 1994 The Environmental Justice Program has awarded over 150 small grants and regional to help parishes, dioceses, schools and other Catholic groups to address environmental concerns in innovative ways. You can view many of these projects by clicking on the links below.

While small grant funding is no longer available in EJP, we hope ideas created by our grant winners can serve as models to those who would like to develop projects to protect God’s Creation.

We have organized many of the small grants according to the categories found in the 1993 U.S. bishops’ statement, Communities of Salt and Light. This document suggests that the best social ministry programs are those that are integrated into all aspects of parish life, rather than being add-ons or optional efforts.

They are categorized according to the themes of the bishops’ statement, “Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish.” Perhaps some of these stories will inspire your parish to act on behalf of God’s creation!
