Environmental Health Advocacy in Housing
Catholic Charities USA distributes informational materials to its agencies and coordinates training for housing counselors on environmental health issues related to housing. Counselors from dioceses around the country who work with low-income renters and first-time home buyers learn about issues like lead poisoning and other harmful substances in homes and communities that affect childrens health, including advocacy strategies. Over 1,200 individuals within the Catholic Charities USA Network have benefited from this initiative.
