Environmental Health and Safety in Catholic Schools

The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) publishes articles and provides information relevant to educators, boards and commissions about the importance of environmental health issues in making schools safe. Through this initiative, NCEA reaches out to superintendents and board members serving over 2.6 million children in over 8,000 Catholic schools.

Through its National Association of Boards, Commissions and Councils of Catholic Education (NABCCCE), the NCEA has launched a grants program for boards that show leadership in promoting environmental safety in schools. These best practices as well as other related sessions are showcased at NCEA’s annual convention.

The association’s web site offers timely and practical ideas and links to resources to assist boards to ensure healthy facilities and address environmental health issues in schools. Information can be found at the NCEA website, under “Ensuring a Healthy and Safe Environment,” at http://www.ncea.org/departments/nabccce/EnvironmentalConcerns.asp
