Dear Representative Wolf,
I wish to thank you most sincerely for your courageous votes last month to increase funding for poor country debt relief in the foreign operations appropriations bill.
You performed an extraordinary act of solidarity with millions of people in many of the world's poorest countries who suffer under the weight of excessive external debt.
I was, of course, keenly disappointed that the amendment you supported did not succeed. I am heartened, however, by the news that Representative Nancy Pelosi intends to press ahead and offer a similar amendment on the House floor.
I know that we can count on your continued support, and we will encourage House members on both sides of the aisle to join you in voting for full funding for debt relief.
With thanks again for all you are doing to make the Jubilee Year 2000 a time of hope for the poor and vulnerable in debt-ridden countries, I am
