The USCC Committees on Education and Domestic and International Policy have formed a task force focused on the extent to which Catholic social teaching is being integrated into Catholic educational programs. The task force has completed an assessment of what is currently being done, and is now finishing a list of recommendations for strengthening the connection between Catholic social teaching and Catholic education. One of their suggestions is that the bishops issue a statement affirming what is being done and urging even greater efforts. A tentative schedule would have the statement released in June of 1998. In the meantime, we are beginning to work on another of the task forces recommendations--that existing examples, models, and materials be collected and shared through social ministry and education networks.
| Please use the form below to tell about efforts you are familiar with in the diocese, in schools, in parishes or in other organizations that incorporate Catholic social teaching into Catholic educational programs at all levels--from pre-school religious education to seminaries. We are interested in examples of programs, courses, events, etc., as well as written and video materials, handouts, lesson plans, etc. that you have found helpful. |
