CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Diocesan Directors’ Welcome Reception and Meeting

CCHD convened more than 75 CCHD directors, coordinators and partners for its annual diocesan directors meeting. The group discussed accomplishments, challenges, strategies, needs and priorities for implementing CCHD in dioceses around the country.

Friday evening CCHD diocesan directors joined Catholic Relief Service diocesan directors for a networking dinner.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES USA
PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY Leadership Team Meeting

The Leadership Team of the Parish Social Ministry Professional Interest Section of Catholic Charities USA is responsible for facilitating networking within the Section, coordinating of Section activities, and raising consciousness about parish social ministry. The Leadership Team met to orient new members, plan for the upcoming year, and keep up with issues and trends impacting members.
CATHOLIC LABOR NETWORK
The Catholic Labor Network, a loosely affiliated group of Catholic lay, religious, and clergy concerned and active on worker issues, met for liturgy, workshops and lunch. Their program consists of three speakers: Paul Edwards, General Secretary for the World Movement of Christian Workers, Eric Jonas, North Carolina Organizer - FLOC, and Kim Bobo, Executive Director of the Interfaith Worker Justice who discussed how the Catholic Church in United States can work in solidarity with the World Movement of Christians workers, farmworkers, and other people of faith, respectively.
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES
Diocesan Directors Meeting

For CRS diocesan directors, this was the place where the local met the global. The session began with a thorough update and overview of the extensive world-wide work of CRS by Sean Callahan, Executive Vice President of CRS Overseas Operations. Solidarity efforts within the U.S. were covered by Joan Neal, Executive Vice President for U.S. Operations. Several CRS Diocesan Directors joined the discussion on global solidarity programming, highlighting their best practices.
NATIONAL CATHOLIC RURAL LIFE CONFERENCE
This workshop examined the suspected causes of climate change and the potential impacts on agricultural ecosystems worldwide.
ACCU HIGHER EDUCATION MEETING
Integrating Justice and Peace Resources across the Disciplines

The 8th annual meeting combined expert advice and lived experiences to focus the conversation on practical ways of integrating justice resources across academic disciplines and sharing those resources between academic communities.
The ROUNDTABLE
Association of Diocesan Social Action Directors
Promoting Family, Community and Participation in an Election Year

The 2008 Roundtable Symposium helped diocesan social action directors develop skills to promote dialogue around themes of "family, community and participation" in an election year grounded in the theological discipline virtue ethics and the tools of the Catholic Common Ground Initiative.

The Harry A. Fagan Roundtable Award Banquet

The Roundtable honored Bishop John McCarthy, retired Bishop of Austin at the 2008 Harry A. Fagan Roundtable Award Banquet.
NATIONAL CATHOLIC PARTNERSHIP ON DISABILTY
Promoting Justice in the Community with Advocates with Disabilities Participants heard first-hand accounts from people with disabilities who are fighting for the opportunity to live and participate in the community. They also strategized together on pending legislation that can make a difference, such as the Community Choice Act.
THE SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
Voice of the Poor

The St. Vincent de Paul Society, Voice of the Poor, met to share experiences, discuss objectives for 2008, and talk about issues related to the condition of the poor and disenfranchised for the purpose of helping Vincentians to live their faith.
