Bishop Soto Appeals for Prayer in Solidarity with Persecuted Christians
At an ecumenical prayer breakfast January 18th, Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento, issued the following an “Appeal for Prayer in Solidarity with Other Christians.” Bishop Soto affirms the common belief of all Christians of Jesus as Savior, affirms the principles of religious freedom and asks all Christians to be united in praying in solidarity with those Christians throughout the world who suffer for their faith. The statement was approved by 30 members of various Christian traditions in the area.

The Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs has a mandate from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to give guidance in ecumenical and interreligious affairs and determine concrete ways of acting in accordance with the Decree on Ecumenism and on Non-Christian Religions of the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican and with other ordinances and legitimate customs, taking account of the time, place and persons they are concerned with but also of the good of the universal Church….for more see our Mandate and Brief History page.
